So, some of you may know of my not exactly weekly, or even monthly, email messages, A Few Words From Lisa. I tell subscribers what I’ve been up to lately, linking to all the various places I’ve been doing them, because I am generally all over the place in my creative pursuits. I also add a couple of links to female identifying artists at the end, just to spread the love.
For many years, I sent A Few Words From Lisa via a Yahoo Group. Remember Yahoo Groups? They were the best for meeting like-minded artists, with the occasional ripple of too many creative souls in one tiny space drama. I miss those spaces.
One day, I decided I should be a grown up, and move my little Yahoo Group thing to a real email service. I’ve used Mad Mimi for a long time, and they’ve been awesome. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, easy to use, don’t need a PhD to send your first message email solution, they’re it. Their customer service, when rarely needed, is speedy and often hilarious. I loved them.
But now that I’m slowing things down a bit, I find paying for an email service is sort of silly. I’ve decided to move my random messages here to Substack, where I also have the option to do a paid service if I want. Right now, it’s my intention that A Few Words From Lisa will remain free, as it always has been. If I decide to add a subscription option, it will be for something else, that isn’t offered in the bazillion other places I generate content.
OK, that’s it for me. See you soon.
